Spurious medicine: Seven chemists booked

QCB is supposed to keep tabs on drug dealers and ensure that they are not supplying substandard medicine in the city.

The Quality Control Board (QCB) has referred the cases of seven pharmacies and druggists cited for supplying spurious medicines in different areas of the city to the court.


During the last three months, a team raided different areas of the capital under the supervision of Drug Inspector Muhammad Shafiq.

The decision was taken to forward the cases to court after the 30th QCB meeting, which was chaired by Islamabad Chief Commissioner Taqir Mehmood Pirzada.

Talking to The Express Tribune, Drug Inspector Muhammad Shafiq said that drug team conducted raids in different areas of the city, and after collecting samples, the cases were referred to the board, which sent them to the court.

Cases were registered against the pharmacy of Kashmir General Hospital, Fateh Jhang Road, for supplying medicine without a licence, S-M Traders in Karachi Company for selling substandard medicine, Waleed Medical Store, Khana Road, Qadir Medical Store in sector 1-8/3, and two mobile drug sellers, Asif and Rafaqat Masih, was also sent to court.

The QCB is supposed to keep tabs on drug dealers and ensure that they are not supplying substandard medicine in the city. Islamabad Chief Commissioner Tariq Mahmood Pirzada is the chairman of the board.
