PARIS: British rider Mark Cavendish has moved quickly to dampen expectations ahead of this year’s Tour de France. Sprint star Cavendish is hoping to build on his record of 15 stage wins in the Tour this year. “I can tell you now the ignorance of some people is going to be if I don’t win four, five stages, it’s going to be a failure,” Cavendish told the BBC. “It’s the Tour de France, you have to be happy with one stage.” The Manx rider is keeping his targets to himself, refusing to make statements about his chances of claiming the green jersey for the event’s leader in the points classification after coming close in 2010.
