LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif, Vice President Maryam Nawaz and other family members met former prime minister Nawaz Sharif at the Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat prison on Thursday.

According to details, the Sharif family members discussed the overall political situation in the country, the leaked video clip of the accountability court judge and the summons issued to Maryam by the accountability court over a fake trust deed.

Furthermore, following the permission of the court, Nawaz’s personal physician, Dr Adnan, also visited the PML-N supremo in the prison and conducted a medical checkup.

A large of party leaders and workers were gathered outside the prison during the family visit in order to show solidarity.

According to sources, Mariam also briefed Nawaz about her public rally in Mandi Bahauddin on Sunday and said that she had the support of the people of Pakistan.

The sources added that Nawaz advised his daughter to appear before the accountability court. “It might be another difficult phase but this too shall pass,” the PML-N supremo was quoted as saying.

Nawaz told Maryam, they added, that the PML-N has absolute respect for the courts and the law. “But questions are rising about the justice system in the country,” he added.

Maryam later took to Twitter in which she said that during Nawaz’s tenure, there was no sense of deprivation in any province. She said this specifically in the context of Balochistan, saying that Sharif had also supported the Senate chairman from Balochistan.

Sharif, who was sent back to Kot Lakhpat after the end of the bail granted to him on medical grounds, is serving a seven-year term in the Al-Azizia corruption reference.
