MULTAN: Punjab Energy Minister Dr Akhtar Malik said that Rs2 million will be spent on cleanliness and drainage schemes in every district union council.

Moreover, 500 sanitary workers will be recruited on daily wages. He expressed these views at a meeting at Circuit House on Thursday. He maintained that the providing a clean environment and drinking water was part of the prime minister’s vision.  He said that all non-functioning water filtration plants were being made functional by paying the electricity bill with special permission from Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar.

He stated that tenders would be issued for development projects in rural union councils without any delay. Deputy Commissioner Amir Khattak said that every union council was being given Rs0.3 million every month by the provincial government.
