ISLAMABAD:
In the wake of opposition’s no-trust motion tabled against the Senate chairman, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government declared that it will strengthen the upper house along with its allies as the nation cannot afford any political adventurism.

Speaking to media representatives here on Thursday, Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) for Information and Broadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the government had already dealt with the opposition during the budget session.

The SAPM maintained that some political pundits desired to run Senate according to their wishes and wanted to de-seat the leader of the upper house but the PTI government stood with the institution and not with an individual.

Firdous said that Prime Minister Imran Khan’s upcoming visit to United States will play a pivotal role in regaining the lost status of Pakistani passport.

She observed that the previous governments used democracy as a shield to weaken the institutions and brought them under control.
Referring to PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif, Firdous observed that the twelfth player of politics wanted to dictate the parliament from outside and their next target was Senate but they will not be able to make any political gains.

She claimed that those who kept the institutions under their control were perturbed by the role of an independent Senate.
Questioning opposition, she asked people wanted to know what wrong had Sadiq Sanjrani done who was their own chairman Senate choice.
Firdous vowed to strengthen the Senate and said that the nation had struggled for long to gain its lost identity.

The termed the opposition’s efforts devoid of gaining any political mileage.
“The confirmation of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s visit to United States has badly disappointed the opposition,” she said.
The SAPM maintained that Pakistan had gained the status of an important country in the world and it will be for the first time that the international community would recognize Islamabad’s peace efforts.
