LWMC to conduct cleanliness operation

LWMC MD Khalid Nazir says all operational staff should remain in the field for the next 3 days without any exemption

LAHORE: A special cleanliness operation has been arranged in the provincial capital on Wednesday on the orders of Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) Managing Director Khalid Nazir. He directed that all operational staff should remain in the field for the next 3 days without any exemption. The LWMC chief said that all aspects of the cleanup operation will be closely monitored including manual sweeping, mechanical sweeping and plot clearance followed by the presence of workers at choking points. “Maintaining cleanliness is our utmost priority and the company will not tolerate any sort of negligence. Meanwhile, Turk contractors have been instructed to actively participate in this operation.” LWMC General Manager Operations Sohail Malik paid surprise visits to multiple areas of the provincial capital and suspended the supervisor of Union Council 63 over poor performance. He also served a final warning notice to Zonal Officer Malik Yusuf and served an explanation notice to Assistant Manager Operations Saad for poor performances. He said that LWMC will not bear any sort of negligence over cleanliness. A spokesperson of the LWMC urged citizens to cooperate with LWMC and file complaints on helpline 1139 or on the LWMC mobile application Clean Lahore.
