Time and time again, prominent figures prove to us why it’s necessary to think before we post on our social media platforms. Previously, a politician posted a Facebook Live press conference with a cat filter on and in another instance, a news anchor confused smartphone maker Apple with the fruit Apple.

Recently, the Secretary-General of the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT), Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, tweeted a video showing a plane on the runway narrowly missing a collision with an oil tanker.

The politician commended the pilot’s skill and his calm state of mind as he avoided the crash. However, it was discovered that the video was not of a real-life situation, but rather a part of the gameplay from the highly popular video game Grand Theft Auto.

“Narrow escape of an aircraft which could have ended in a great disaster. Miraculous save by the pilot’s presence of mind,” Gandapur said in his tweet and was received with criticism by the Twitterati for not being aware that it was a video game simulation.
