Health minister directs early completion of Dassu hospital
Seeks weekly report from officials, promises to provide ambulance service
PESHAWAR:
The provincial health minister on Monday directed to complete the remaining construction work on the district headquarters hospital in Dassu at the earliest.
This was directed by Khyber-Pakthunkhwa (K-P) Minister for Health Dr Hasham Inamullah Khan while chairing a high-level meeting regarding the provision of health facilities to the Kohistan district.
The meeting was attended by all concerned stakeholders including the K-P health secretary, K-P Health Sector Reforms Unit chief, Kohistan district health officer, Kohistan assistant commissioner, officials from the Communications and Works department and others.
A detailed briefing was given over the under-construction hospital and other reforms in the district’s health sector. The minister was assured that the best health facilities will be provided to people of the province, particularly to remote and under-developed areas as a priority.
The minister also assured to provide an ambulance service for the hospital.
K-P hospitals shut against manhandling of doctors
He also directed officials of the Communication and Works department to submit weekly reports once construction starts.
KMU graduates protest
Khyber Medical University (KMU) graduates of Physical Therapy (PT) have announced that they will stage a protest in front of the provincial assembly on Tuesday (today) over their house job pay and induction of fresh graduates from the upcoming batch in public sector hospitals.
Representatives of Young Doctor of Physiotherapy Association (YDPA) Dr Sahib Rahman, Zohaib Ali and Aqeeb Javaid in a joint statement said that their protest will continue until the acceptance of their demands.
“Demonstration for paid house job is the legal right of the KMU DPT graduates and a part and parcel of their degree,” they argued, adding that the Higher Education Commission (HEC) in a letter to K-P governor had called for the provision of jobs to fresh graduates of DPT.
Further, the K-P Health Department has completed 80% of work over the proposal but its implementation was allegedly being delayed.
They urged the government to issue orders to pay them for house jobs.
