RAWALPINDI: Patients, attendants and staff are facing extreme difficulties at the Benazir Bhutto General Hospital (BBGH) after the elevators of the emergency and out-patient department (OPD) malfunctioned.

Patients in the emergency department have been moved to the Operation Theater on the first floor via a ramp.

Similarly, the other malfunctioning elevator is in the OPD, which is used by gynaecology patients since the department has no ramp leading to it.

Hence, female patients are compelled to climb crowded stairs to the first floor.

The emergency and the OPD departments in the hospital were revamped during the tenure of the last government, however, the issue of elevators breaking down every other week seems to never end.
