DERA ISMAIL KHAN:
Five people were killed and three others sustained injuries on Sunday in a violent clash between two local tribes over sharing of irrigation water in a small town near Dera Ismail Khan.

Sources privy to the development said that two Pashtun tribes Pakha Khel and Maduzai in Kiri Shamazai area had a 40-year-old dispute over sharing of irrigation water.


Tribesmen of Pakha Khel barred the rival Maduzai tribe from using the irrigation water for their agriculture land which prompted exchange of heated argument, they said, adding that a number of armed Pakha Khel’s tribesmen opened fire at their rivals killing three people and injuring two others.

According to sources, in response to the fatal shooting, armed tribesmen of Maduzai also killed two brothers of Pakha Kehl tribe and injured one another.

Till filing of this story, police and rescue services had not arrived at the site of the incident and locals people shifted the injured to nearby hospital.
