Khan to invite senior goal-keepers to camp
KARACHI:
Goal-keeping coach Shahid Ali Khan plans to avail the services of national players at the goal-keeping camp that started yesterday in order to benefit the attendees.
Olympian Khan is heading the specialised camp for goal-keepers that will continue until June 20 and has 16 participants that Khan and his five assistants had selected from among 60 other candidates who participated in the previous camp held in May.
“We’ll use the machines, video analysis and invite the senior goal-keepers like Imran Butt, Imran Shah and Nisar Ahmed to practice with these 16 players so that the camp can benefit from it,” Khan told The Express Tribune.
The academy has picked four goal-keepers each from the under-14, under-16, under-18 and under-22 categories with the U-14 and U-16 categories heading into the junior squad while players aged between 18 and 22 getting a chance to play with Pakistan Whites.
The camp will be active throughout the year and the players’ improvement will be reviewed every six months.
