Court summons more witnesses in case against Memon

KARACHI:
An accountability court sought on Saturday further witnesses in the case pertaining to corruption in Sindh information department.

The former provincial information minister Sharjeel Memon, an accused in the case, appeared before the court. The primary accused, Inam Akbar, along with others were produced by the jail officials before the court. The National Accountability Bureau's (NAB) witness, Amir Muhammad, also appeared before the court.

The counsel for the accused completed cross-examining the statement of the witness after which the court adjourned the hearing till July 19.

Separately, an accountability court directed NAB’s witness to provide complete documents at the next hearing of the Rs462 billion corruption reference against Dr Asim Hussain and others.

Dr Asim and others accused appeared before the court. The court adjourned the hearing till July 13 due to incomplete documents provided by NAB's witness, Ashfaq. The court ordered him to appear with the complete documents on the next hearing.
