KARACHI:
In all its glitz and glamour, the Lux Style Awards (LSA) is one of the most anticipated award ceremonies where celebrities can really put on their A-game in the fashion realm.

With 18 years and counting, the award show is about to roll out the red carpet once again and stars across the country are figuring out their look while we eagerly await to see what they will serve this year.

We cannot forget Mahira Khan at last year's event in an all-white Faraz Manan ensemble. The Raees beauty surely hit all the right notes stepping out in traditional attire that got everyone swooning.  Of course, model Amna Babar turned heads in a strapless Élan number, while Cake star Aamina Sheikh went all avant-garde in THAT Sana Safinaz stunner.

Alas, the times are always changing and we are keen to see some fresh looks at the upcoming extravaganza. Some of these trends might be deemed controversial but let's see if any of our desi stars can prove us right and rock the following looks we hope to see.

Neon

Neon seems to be making its way into everything lately and some of our favourites showed us all how to rock the trend in some seriously eye-catching ways.  Who can forget Bollywood darling Deepika Padukone strutting that bright neon frilly dress at Cannes this year, while Heer Maan Ja's Hareem Farooq mixed elegance and modernism with her one shoulder top.

Stark and stylish, the neon may be a risky one but we are waiting to see how LSA stars will find a way to incorporate it from the hex code.  Look to Priyanka and Sonam for some serious evening wear inspiration!

The #MeToo dress

Last year, Hollywood took the #MeToo movement onto various awards events to make their stance clear about speaking up against sexual harassment.  This transitioned into their outfits, most notably wearing black at the Oscars.

While the red carpet season started with a sea of black – of course, giving it their own snazzy twist because one shouldn’t sacrifice fashion – many also sported the Time’s Up pin to fight sexual harassment in the workplace.

The #MeToo movement is now well and truly making waves in Pakistan and we think it's time for stars to make a stance on the fashion front.  We hope to see them incorporate the movement into their looks at LSA in subtle but powerful ways.

The high ponytail

Celebrities should beat the heat while sporting an elegantly cool hair do for LSA.  We think they should take inspiration from Deepika's first look at Cannes, with her striking high ponytail that got everyone talking. Also, how stunning does Kareena Kapoor look in a sleek plait to compliment her yellow Nach Baliye dress?

Soon after seeing Deepika on the carpet, Katrina Kaif followed suit by opting for a similar hairstyle. Local stars could draw inspiration from her more demure ponytail as it was secured in a smaller loop. The sleek back hair certainly gave her a gorgeously chiselled look.  Meanwhile, Huma Qureshi had a fabulous hair at Cannes with her bubble braid. The fun style, along with a dash of gold made us go gaga over her candy stripes too.  We hope our stars can take note!
