Model court sentences ‘gangster’ to death for murder

Imposes a fine of Rs2 million along with an additional seven years of imprisonment

A model court sentenced an accused to death on Thursday after finding him guilty of murder.

The notorious gangster Yasin alias Mama Gaddi was accused of killing Abdul Basit in 2014. Judge Naveed Ahmed Soomro sentenced him to death and also imposed a fine of Rs2 million along with an additional seven years of imprisonment for injuring the deceased’s friend, Bilal.

The court announced the verdict in the case within three days. According to the police, the convict was wanted in several other cases.

In another case of murder and attempted murder, the East model court, finding Ehsan Warsi guilty, sentenced the accused to life imprisonment.


The court also imposed a fine of Rs0.8 million rupees over both allegations. According to police, the convict killed his neighbor, Chaudhry Ikram, by shooting him over a personal dispute. Two sons and a daughter-in-law of the deceased were also injured in the attack.

Similarly, the East model court sentenced Habibullah to life imprisonment for murder. Additional and district judge of East model court, Haleem Ahmed, announced the verdict. The court also imposed a fine of RsRs0.5 million.

According to police, the criminal killed a man named Mumtaz Brohi in 2012 over a personal dispute.
