KARACHI:
Sahil Police claimed to have arrested a suspect identified as Irum alias Zahida and her son-in-law, Farhan, allegedly involved in harassing and robbing couples visiting the Sea View promenade. Police also seized a car, bearing a fake registration plate and a round insignia of a Sindh High Court (SHC) lawyer.

They also claimed to have seized a stolen motorcycle from their possession. The motorcycle bore the word, "Press", on the registration plate.

According to Sahil SHO Syeda Ghazala, an FIR was registered against the suspects on June 25, 2019, on the complaint of Kamran Ali, a resident of FB Area Block 8, under sections of the Pakistan Penal Code pertaining to robbery.

Zahida and Farhan were arrested late Tuesday night while they were attempting to flee after harassing a couple, snatching mobile phones and cash from them. A third accomplice, a security guard managed to evade arrest. The SHO said that Irum had been robbing couples visiting the beach for some time now.

According to DSP Zahid Hussain, Irum has another son-in-law, Latifullah, who is an official in the Sindh Assembly. The DSP, quoting Irum, said that the duo had carried out several robberies in Latifullah's official vehicle, bearing government registration plates too.

Both the suspects would act as influential and harass and loot couples who came to Sea View.
