We plan to allocate Rs1 million to ensure that no corruption takes place, said DCO Karachi Muhammad Hussain Syed at a press conference on Friday, a day after the new budget was unveiled.
“The City District Government Karachi (CDGK) has a total budget of Rs70.69 million and the administration plans to take stern steps to monitor how the funds are being used,” he said.
According to Mehmood Baig, the DDO budget of Rs276 million have been allocated for city wardens. “Although there are no special packages for the city wardens, we have tried to include expenses such as salaries, uniforms, wireless phones and vehicle maintenance,” he said. “The city administrator has asked EDO Municipal Services to come up with an insurance policy plan for them.”
Budget documents show that this year the literacy department has been allocated Rs13 million, whereas last year they had been allocated Rs17 million. The 2011-2012 budget also shows that no allocation has been made for individuals working in CDGK schools, when last year Rs0.6 million had been allocated for them.
