FAISALABAD: Upgrading the textile sector is imperative to maintain the inherent edge of Faisalabad in the national economy and textile exports, said Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) Senior Vice President Mian Tanveer Ahmed.

He was heading a delegation of FCCI which participated in International Textile Machinery Association (ITMA) fair held in Barcelona, Spain from June 20 to 26. Upon his return back to Pakistan, he stressed the importance of textile sector, saying that in the changed environment, the country must upgrade its textile sector to remain competitive in international markets.

Textile sector reforms for whom?

He informed that ITMA was one of the biggest exhibition of latest and modern textile machinery, which was attended by textile industrialists from all over the world.

He told the participants that Faisalabad-based industrialists had detailed meetings with textile machinery manufacturers but many of them could not finalise deals due to the prevailing uncertainty in the country.

“In future, FCCI will avoid sending delegations during budget formulation season because during this period, industrialists cannot evaluate the financial impact of their bargains,” he said.
