PTI's Azam Swati richest senator with assets worth over Rs1.85b: ECP

Senator Taj Afridi only other billionaire with assets worth Rs1.30b; PML-N's Pervaiz Rasheed has lowest valued assets

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) Azam Swati is the richest senator in the country with assets worth over Rs1.85 billion, according to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

The ECP on Wednesday released financial details of members of the Senate for the year 2018-19.

PTI's Swati is followed by Senator Taj Afridi with assets worth Rs1.30 billion, while Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz's (PML-N) Pervaiz Rasheed's has the lowest valued assets at Rs2.3 million along with Jamaat-e-Islami Chief Sirajul Haq who owns assets worth Rs3.1 million.

Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani has assets worth Rs100 million, while Deputy Chairman Saleem Mandiwala is the owner of assets worth over Rs260 million.

PM Imran owns assets worth over Rs108m: ECP

Leader of the House for the Senate Shibli Faraz owns assets over Rs 230 million, while Law Minister Farogh Naseem owns assets over Rs480 million.

Senate Opposition Leader Raja Zafarul Haq has assets worth over Rs10 million but, according to ECP, he did not declare the value of seven properties.

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Senator Talha Mehmood owns assets over Rs 330 million, while PTI's Faisal Javed, Dr Shehzad Waseem and Senator Waleed Iqbal own assets worth Rs18 million, Rs330 million and Rs130 million, respectively.

PML-N senators Asif Kirmani and Mushahidullah Khan have assets worth over Rs40 million and Rs24 million, respectively.

Pakistans Peoples Party's Sherry Rehman and Rehman Malik own assets worth Rs250 million and Rs80 million, while the party's Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar has assets over Rs170 million and Farooq H Naek has assets valued at over Rs90 million.

Former Senate chairman Raza Rabbani's assets were valued at Rs120 million, while Senator Mirza Muhammad Afridi owns assets costing over Rs410 million.
