Minor undergoes successful transplant

For the first time in the province, a pediatric liver transplant has been successfully conducted at Organ Transplant Centre, Bahria International Hospital Orchard, Lahore. A periodic liver transplant of a three-year-old girl with liver disease was conducted at the hospital. The child’s mother donated a part of her liver. A department official said that the complicated surgery took 10 hours to complete and both the mother and her daughter are stable. The patient and her mother have been shifted from the intensive care unit. The surgery was performed by a 62 member medical and paramedical staff team.
