Why I resigned from the NA
Marvi Memon was elected to National Assembly on a reserved seat and this had a lot to do with whose daughter she was.
KARACHI:
This is with reference to Marvi Memon’s article of July 1 titled “Why I resigned from the National Assembly”. General Pervez Musharraf hand-picked the writer’s father to be in the Senate and this had to be done since the latter did not have a political base anywhere in the country. The writer herself was elected to the National Assembly on a reserved seat and this had a lot to do with whose daughter she was. So while it is all well and good to talk of merit, the fact is that the writer herself was not elected to parliament on that criterion.
There is also the issue of domicile since the writer must be having a domicile from Sindh but she was elected on a reserved seat from Punjab.
