Mirza announces increase in honorarium of federal nurses

Nurses’ scholarships go from Rs6,800 to Rs20,000

ISLAMABAD:
Special Adviser to Prime Minister (PM) on Health Dr Zafar Mirza rendered a notification to employees regarding the increase of the honorarium of regular and student nurses in the government hospitals of Islamabad.

Dr Mirza mentioned in the ceremony that the PM had approved the increase of the allowances of regular and student nurses; and so the notification has been issued. Dr Zafar Mirza said that the government has increased allowances amid the demand of nurses.

Federal nurses had previously demanded that their scholarships and allowance be increased to the same level as that of nurses working in hospitals under the provincial government. He said that student nurses who work in the federal capital, will now get a scholarship of Rs20,000, as opposed to the previous amount of Rs6,800.

The mess allowance of regular nurses of grade 16 increased from Rs500 to Rs8,000, the increase in dress allowance has gone from Rs600 to Rs3,000.


He added that the government expenditure on the new allowances is annual sum of Rs228.547 and it will be implemented from July 1, 2019.

Dr Mirza said that the government is determined to improve progress and development of the profession of nursing. This is the first step in this regard to facilitate them. Dr Mirza added that the profession of nursing is the backbone of the health department, and this department cannot develop without progression in the field of nursing.

He also stressed the need of hard work, passion and persistence among nurses so they can serve humanity.
