ISLAMABAD: Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Thursday started clearing the remnants of structures demolished earlier to clear the right way of Kashmir Highway in Sector G-12.

During this operation, debris of the buildings demolished during a massive anti-encroachment operation carried out last year to clear the right of way of Kashmir Highway are being completely removed or levelled.

Earlier, CDA, through a public notice, directed the owners of demolished properties to clear debris lying on the right of way of Kashmir Highway on their own. After expiry of deadline given to the people concerned regarding removal of demolished structures lying on the right of Kashmir Highway G-12, CDA initially cleared the debris from the area and now has started demolishing and removing  leftover structures from the area.

During the operation, structures of three buildings namely Kaltoor Shinwari, Moon Restaurant and Dynamic Motors were razed to the ground with the help of heavy machinery.

CDA teams levelled the rubble of these buildings and paved the land.

In the meanwhile, during other anti-encroachment operations teams of Enforcement Directorate demolished 15 illegal sheds and cabins and small walls from Lane 75-A Sector I-10/1 and one garage constructed illegally in Street 13, Sector I-10/2. Similarly, while conducting anti-encroachment operations in Rawal Town Market and Sangam Market in Sector I-8, teams of Enforcement Directorate removed encroachments from the markets and confiscated five truckloads of encroachment material.

With minister’s rare backing: CDA demolishes 25 illegal structures in capital

Capital Development Authority (CDA) has served notices to hotels and club located along the Murree Road for immediate removal of encroachment and other installations established on the right of way or beyond the plot line.

Building Control Section (BCS) of the authority, in connection with ongoing vigorous anti-encroachment drive had served notices to Embassy Lodge, Best Western, Dream Land Motel, Majestic Banquets and Ramada to remove barriers, guard rooms, entry gates, iron grills, generators and other constructions and encroachments established on the right of way of the Murree Road.

Furthermore, Islamabad Club administration had also been served notice to remove the boundary wall and other installations established on the right of way of the road. These notices had been served under the clause 49-C of CDA Ordinance 1960.

It is pertinent to mention here that motels located along the Murree Road had been using the right of way of Murree Road as parking or other purposes.

In the past no action in that regard was taken. However, in continuation with authority's on-going anti-encroachment drive in the city, action was being taken across the board without any discrimination and fear or favour. Through the notices issued, managements of these premises had been directed to immediately remove all installations made on the right of way failing which CDA would conduct an operation to vacate the right of way.

In the meanwhile, CDA along with ICTA carried out anti-encroachment operation along the IJP Road at Mohalla Ali Abad opposite Social Security Hospital. During this operation encroachments and constructions established on the Right of Way of the IJP Road were targeted.

CDA on demolition spree

For the identification of the encroachments and constructions established on the right of way of the IJP Road, demarcation in the area was conducted by relevant formation of the authority. Through demarcation, it was pointed that several huge constructions are illegally carried out by occupying the ROW of IJP Road.

Subsequently, notices, under CDA ordinance were served to the occupants of these premises for removal of constructions.

However, after the expiry of deadline, CDA and ICTA carried out a joint operation and demolished eight rooms, 25 washrooms, 15 kitchens and 20 boundary walls. During this operation, 200 meter strip of ROW was got vacated from illegal occupants.
