Janhvi Kapoor and Kartik Aryan to star in 'Dostana' sequel
Fans have been going crazy after director Karan Johar finally dropped the announcement on Twitter

There has been a lot of speculation as of late about the star cast of Dostana 2, a sequel to the 2008 hit Dostana. Putting all the rumours to rest, director Karan Johar took to Twitter to announce that Kartik Aaryan and Janhvi Kapoor will be playing the lead roles in the upcoming Bollywood film.
Needless to say, Twitter has been sent into a frenzy over the news, reported India Today. Pyaar Ka Punchnama star Kartik shared the news, writing "Can't wait to take this franchise forward with my partners in crime."
While Kartik and Dhadak's Janhvi have been confirmed, everyone is wondering who the third actor will be in Dostana 2 as it has not yet been announced.
According to Karan's tweet, he will soon be launching "a suitable boy" who will be a fresh face.
He wrote, "The return of the franchise with unlimited madness! @TheAaryanKartik, #Janhvi & a soon to be launched fresh face - making it the trio for #Dostana2, directed by @CollinDcunha. Watch out for the third suitable boy!"

However, some fans took to Twitter to share their disappointment that the third lead isn't a female. One tweeted, "Wish we had#AnanyaPanday or #SaraAliKhan as the third lead. Unfortunately, it's going to be a male new comer!
Some even tweeted about their wish for Padmaavat star Deepika Padukone to play in the role.
Karan also confirmed in an interview that Kartik and Janhvi will be a part of Dostana 2, making it the first time the Luka Chuppi actor will be collaborating with Dharma Productions.
"I am excited to take the Dostana franchise forward with Kartik and Janhvi, and can’t wait to create some desi boy-girl madness with them," the producer told Times of India.
Fans were teased only a few days ago after a cryptic video on social media which hinted at the announcement of Dostana 2.
He wrote, "Got a ring to it, doesn't it? You know what it is! Stay tuned and watch this space - announcement coming your way tomorrow!"
Before Kartik and Janhvi, many other actors were rumoured to be in talks for the lead roles in Dostana 2, including Alia Bhatt, John Abraham and Rajkummar Rao. However, in January this year, Karan rubbished the reports and clarified on Twitter saying that, "No one has been officially approached for Dostana 2. Some thoughts and ideas are underway but nothing official has moved."
Directed by Tarun Mansukhani, Dostana featured John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan as two straight men who pretend to be gay in order to share an apartment with Bollywood starlet Priyanka Chopra. However, both of them ended up falling in love with her.
