RAWALPINDI:

The City Police Officer on Thursday suspended Civil Lines Police Station House Officer Sajid Malik for refusing to register criminal cases against two police constables.

The decision was taken after over 100 lawyers approached CPO Azhar Khokhar and asked him to register criminal cases against two constables of Warish Khan area police, accused of thrashing two lawyers outside the district courts over a parking issue on Tuesday.

One of the victims, Advocate Khalid Naveed Bhatti, maintained that he found a police van parked behind his car in the district courts parking lot. When he asked two unknown constables on duty to move the parked police van, they started arguing with him, which escalated into a brawl. When another lawyer, Amjad Kiani tried to stop the police constables, he was also thrashed. President District Bar Association Advocate Malik Jawad Khalid said that SHO Sajid Malik refused to register a case against the police constables that led the lawyers to protest.
