BJP politician caught on camera assaulting civil service officer

A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) politician was caught on camera assaulting an Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) officer on Wednesday, reported Times of India.

The politician, Kailash Vijayvargiva, a Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) and his supporters attacked an Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) team which had gone to demolish a building in the Ganji Compound area of the city.

The video of the attack went viral on social media where Vijayvargiya is seen beating the IMC officer, identified as Deeraj Bais, with a cricket bat after he refused to called off the demolition drive.


The MLA while speaking to Indian media stated: “The demolition was politically motivated and the building’s condition was not so bad, that it could come down in rains”.

“I had already brought this it is in notice of IMC authorities and requested them to not to take an action against the building, but they didn’t listen. As I reached the spot and tried to explain the issue to the concerned zonal officer, he didn’t listen to me and then I lost my patience," he added.

Bais, while speaking to media stated that he was just following the instructions given to him.

“The building is in a dilapidated state, and poses high risk to the lives of those living in the building” Bais added.
