Bhara Kahu hospital likely to be completed by year-end

SAPM on health hopes project will help improve health care in federal capital

ISLAMABAD: A mother and child hospital being built in the Bhara Kahu area of the federal capital is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

This was disclosed by health officials overseeing the project as they briefed the Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Health Dr Zafar Mirza on Tuesday. The SAPM was visiting a Basic Health Unit (BHU) in the area. He also inspected the under-construction Mother and Child Hospital in Bhara Kahu area of Islamabad.

During his visit, Dr Mirza was given a detailed briefing on the work being carried out to set up the Mother and Child Hospital. He was told that the construction of the hospital will be completed by the end of December.

Once complete, the hospital is expected to boast modern facilities which can cater to around 100,000 residents of the area. Moreover, it is expected that up to 500,000 people living in adjoining areas will also benefit from the establishment of this hospital.

The initiative is part of the government’s effort to transform Islamabad into a model health city, said Dr Mirza. As a result of measures being taken by the government, the residents of Islamabad will soon see a complete transformation in the healthcare services in the city.

Later, Dr Mirza visited a Sehat Sahulat Cards Distribution Centre and reviewed the card issuing process.
