Inter-provincial dacoit nabbed, claim Rawalpindi police
Suspect arrested after being shot by a fellow gang member while fleeing
RAWALPINDI:
The Rawalpindi police claimed on Monday that a man who was injured in an alleged exchange of fire with suspected gangsters is a member of an inter-provincial gang of thieves.
Rawalpindi City Police Officer DIG Faisal Rana told the media on Monday that during questioning, suspect Naqeebullah had told them that he was part of a gang of inter-provincial dacoits and that they were allegedly involved in up to 18 criminal acts including murder and stealing cash and goods worth Rs10.5 million.
The CPO further claimed that the suspect was arrested when one of his gang-members accidentally shot him while trying to fire at a police squad whilst they fled on Sunday evening.
In the chase, CPO Rana said that police constable Faheem was injured by the dacoits, adding that they will be charging the dacoits with that crime as well.
He further said that the police have prepared a comprehensive plan to nab other members of this gang.

Providing details of their questioning of the suspect, the CPO claimed that Naqeebullah told them that the gang was also involved in stealing vehicles from the twin cities. Moreover, he said that the suspect had admitted to killing those who put up resistance during robberies.
The CPO assured that the police will be able to solve a number of robberies and murders in the Rawalpindi division if they manage to arrest the leader of this particular gang.
He added that all the items stolen by this gang will and will be returned to their rightful owners. He also expressed that the recoveries from the gang would perhaps be the largest recovery in the history of the Rawalpindi police force.
