PTI moves ECP for Faryal Talpur's disqualification
Petition urged that PPP leader should be disqualified under Article 62 of the Constitution
KARACHI:
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MPAs filed on Monday a petition to the Election Commission of Pakistan seeking the disqualification of Faryal Talpur as member of the provincial assembly.
The petition urged that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader should be disqualified under Article 62 of the Constitution as she has failed to declare details of her assets to the ECP, which means she is no longer 'Sadiq and Ameen'. Talpur owns properties in Larkana and Shahdadkot, the petition states, adding that Talpur is accused in cases pertaining to fake accounts, money laundering and corruption.
The petition was filed by PTI MPA Arsalan Taj.
"Talpur is facing charges in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) and as such, cannot hold the assembly membership," states the petition.
Talking to media representatives, Sheikh said that anybody involved in corruption would face an inquiry and would be taken to task for his or her crimes.
Talpur, the sister of former president Asif Ali Zardari, was arrested by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in Islamabad on June 14 in connection with a case pertaining to money laundering through fake accounts.
