Special Assistant to Prime Minister Naeemul Haque was mercilessly trolled on Saturday for posting an image of Indian cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar thinking it was Imran Khan's.

Haque had posted the photo in which the former Indian cricketer had a striking similarity with PM Imran in his heyday.

He captioned the image as, "PM Imran Khan 1969".



With the post soon going viral, the PTI leader was trolled by the twitterati.

Irresistible fodder as it was for those who rule the roost in the digital-sphere, there was a cascade of memes on the issue.

A user posted a viral photo of a disappointed Pakistan cricket fan, and captioned it saying it was former South African cricketer Herschelle Gibbs.



Another post put up was a photo of Bollywood celebrity Salman Khan, saying it was former Pakistan paceman Shoaib Akhtar.




An old photo of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi captioned as Bollywood actor Paresh Rawal was also shared.



Yet another user uploaded a photo of actor Aamir Khan from the movie 'Lagaan', saying it was India team captain Virat Kohli.




One user put up an image of the Indian freedom movement leader Mohandas Karamchand, or Mahatma Gandhi in his youth, saying it was Pakistan's founder Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.




The post has garnered more than 1400 retweets and close to 10,000 likes so far.

PM Imran's cricket career spanned 21 years and he famously led Pakistan's 'cornered tigers' to their maiden World Cup win in 1992.

He is arguably one of the greatest all-rounders to have graced the game.
