ISLAMABAD: Building up on his pledge to unite all opposition parties on a single platform, Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Wednesday said the planned all-party conference would succeed in reaching a consensus.

“The decisions to be taken during the APC will be acceptable to all opposition parties,” the JUI-F chief claimed while talking to reporters after presiding over party’s Majlis-e-Shoora.

The opposition had planned to hold the APC in the last week of June to devise a strategy “to rid the country of the present Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) regime”.

Before Eid, the main opposition parties, including the Pakistan Peoples Party and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, had reportedly requested the JUI-F chief to convene the APC to devise a strategy to effectively oppose the government’s economic policies.

After their meetings, the JUI-F chief, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif held two separate press conferences and announced that the conference would finally be convened in the last week of June.

He also said that the date and agenda of the APC would be decided in consultation with incarcerated prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

He also shared his plan regarding million-march and said that a committee has been formed to decide a course of action to lockdown the federal capital in case the party decided for street agitation.

He said allowing more time to the “selected prime minister” could be disastrous for the country.

He asked oppositions parties to devise a collective plan to oust the government of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

“We might not be able to achieve our goals if we are divided or try to devise a strategy for personal or party interests,” he said.

He added that his war is for Pakistan and to save it from the ‘incompetent rulers’.

He said the party had termed the 18-year-old narrative in the war against terrorism out-dated. “The entire world is making fun of the narrative and it should be changed.”

“Instead of implementing the international agenda, we should implement the economic action plan,” he added.
