Aabpara blast suspects acquitted

Special Anti-Terrorism Court of Rawalpindi on Wednesday acquitted six suspects accused of suicide attacks.

Special Anti-Terrorism Court of Rawalpindi on Wednesday acquitted six suspects accused of suicide attacks on F-8 Courts and Aabpara Chowk in Islamabad.

The suspects, who were acquitted due to lack of evidence, were arrested in connection with suicide attacks at District Court Chowk, F-8 Islamabad in July 2007 and a police checkpost near Aabpara Chowk.

The court bombing killed 14 workers of PPP and injured 45 people while the attack on the police checkpost claimed the lives of six personnel.

Three suspects were arrested in connection with the district court bombing while the other three were tried in the case of the Aabpara blast.


Sargodha suspects case lingers on

The case of the five American suspects arrested from Sargodha lingers on as the Special Anti-Terrorism Court adjourned the case hearing till the 19th of June.

Hearing of the case on Wednesday took place in the District Jail of Sargodha, where the lawyer of the accused, Barrister Hassan Dastagir, presented his arguments in court.

After listening to his argument, the court demanded additional evidence and witnesses to be presented in the next hearing.

Foreign media personnel, along with representative of the US Embassy, Andre Hillary, were also present outside the jail during the hearing.
