'Baaji' has released its mesmerising second track

The latest song of the film, 'Badaan', takes us into a soothing trance

The Meera and Amna Ilyas starrer Baaji has captured the audience with the release of its second track from the film, Badlaan.

Zeb Bangash's soothing voice almost takes you into a trance from the get-go, where her soft yet soulful melody almost takes the audience into a trance.

Mubarak Ghari star Shakeel Sohail is also the perfect accompaniment to Zeb's voice that doesn't rise above the vocals nor drown them in heavy beats.  The overall effect of the song immediately evokes a sense of calmness, which we can envision listening to while taking a solo drive during a beautiful sunset.

In the video, we see Gardaab star Amna excitedly step into a new life as Shameera's assistant, who is essayed by Meera.

Amna whimsically finds herself amidst all the luxuries of life she only used to dream about.  The video depiction of Badlaan tells a beautiful story of its own, making us all fall in love with the track.

The film pits Meera as "a superstar whose time is running out", against Amna, who is "a girl who dares to dream."

In the beginning, we see Amna walk around a shopping center trying clothes on, smiling as she can only dream of the luxuries she sees. We are then taken to her wishing her family farewell as she gets inside riksha, before looking up in awe at some kites flying around in the blue sky, perhaps symbolising hope for the journey ahead.

We then see some shots of Amna's solo voyage to a new place, where Meera's superstar character resides.  There, the audience can see the duo dancing and laughing together.

But it is said that a heroine’s shelf life is short. However harsh this might sound, the fact remains that the entertainment industry anywhere in the world thrives on youth and this can be especially true of the ladies.

The all-consuming sense of insecurity that follows the realisation that the old must give way to the new and we wonder what will happen as the youthful Amna starts shining as her character in the film teaser.

Perhaps inspired by Meera's character, she begins to love her glamourous life as we see shots of her putting on some red lipstick and a dress in the same shade while taking selfies on her phone.

Baaji has been directed by Saqib Malik and stars Meera, Amna Ilyas, Osman Khalid Butt, Mohsin Abbas Haider, Ali Kazmi and Nayyer Ejaz in prominent roles. The film releases on June 28.

And if the music is anything to go by, we can't wait to see how the film plays on our heartstrings. Badlaan certainly makes us want more.
