LAHORE:
Muhammad Mushtaq alias Chini, who was earlier detained, has become an approver in an assets beyond known means of income case against the Shehbaz Sharif family.

He has served as a close aide to the opposition leader in Punjab Assembly Hamza Shehbaz and his brother Salman Shehbaz.

On Saturday, he was presented before a judicial magistrate where he recorded his statement. He reportedly has provided details of a large number of transactions through private banks to the anti-graft watchdog.

He has also briefed the investigators about transactions worth Rs500 million received by him through the two banks and the transfer of Rs600 million into the account of Salman. He had decided to become approver on Friday and his transit remand was sought by NAB.

After receiving the remand, he was presented before NAB Chairman Javed Iqbal. Chini was arrested this year in April from Allama Iqbal International Airport in a bid to flee abroad.

His name was in the Exit Control List and he was spotted by Federal Investigation Agency while attempting to flee.
