After eight long months, the Shahrah-e-Kaghan up to Babusar Top has reopened for traffic. The route presents the quickest road means to travel to Gilgit-Baltistan from Islamabad. The road had been closed for traffic after a heavy winter snowfall. Officials of the National Highway Authority (NHA) worked over the past two months to clear several kilometres of the road and reopen it. Babusar Top is located at a height of 13,691 feet and thousands of tourists either travel to it or through it every year. Naran Hotel Association President Matiullah Seth further said that after the opening of the road, tourists can visit Babusar Top easily apart from visiting other nearby tourist destinations such as Lulusar Lake, Piyala Lake and other sites.
