Corruption: Inquiries lodged against 15 officials

including district officer (water management), a tehsildar (land requisition) and an inspector of Excise Department

Anti Corruption Department on Wednesday lodged cases against 15 officials including district officer (water management), a tehsildar (land requisition) and an inspector of the Excise Department on the charges of corruption, nepotism and unfair use of authority.


Anti Corruption officials took custody of relevant record of the departments before registering FIRs. Action was taken against tehsildar (land requisition office) Mohammad Yunis, Head Clerk Javed Siddiqui and Patwari Mohammad Yaqoob on complaint of a citizen, Zahir Ahmad Sherazi. Sherazi had accused the three of corruption worth million of rupees. Mohammad Saeed, resident of Khanewal, had accused district officer (water management) Javed Iqbal, deputy district officer Mohammad Zafar, Sub engineer Mohammad Irshad, Sub engineer Mohammad Zubair, Supervisor Ejaz Ahmad, Secretary Murtaza and two other, Makhdoom Murtaza and Qamar Abbas, of involvement in illegal construction of a water tributary.
