Social media is ablaze with fans unable to contain their excitement for a new animated Spice Girls film.

The flick will contain all five of the hit 90's pop band, including Victoria Beckham, who has previously been apprehensive about a reunion with her former band members.

Telling the story of the quintet uniting as superheros, Beckham, alongside Emma Bunton, Mel C, Geri Halliwell and Mel B, will all lend their voices to the upcoming release as well as some brand new songs, reported The Independent.

“They are very involved,” the president of Paramount Animation has said, adding that girl band “had an idea [they'd] been developing”, as something of a passion project.

Needless to say, fans are going wild on Twitter over the news.

However, some also shared their dread and skepticism over the news, with one Twitter user writing, "we already had a spices girls movie and still have nightmares of how bad it was. The world is not ready for another one."

The film is due for release in 2020 and is part of a slate of new cartoon projects, including a new SpongeBob Squarepants flick.

It will be produced by 1990s music titan (and Spice Girls boss) Simon Fuller and written by the team responsible for The House Bunny and Reese Witherspoon hit Legally Blonde.

The Spice Girls’ first film, Spice World, was released in 1997.
