KARACHI:
With Cyclone Vayu cutting off sea breeze in Karachi, the coastal city is expected to continue sizzle under the scorching sun with temperatures expected to hover between 40 to 42 degrees Celsius until Saturday.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), sea breeze – which provides relief to residents of Karachi – has stopped due to the cyclone.

Experts and medical staff have advised citizens to take precaution against the rising temperatures and stay well hydrated.

Cyclone Vayu, which has intensified further in the East Arabian Sea, is expected to cause heavy rains and storm in Badin, Thatta and Tharparkar on Thursday and Friday, while thundershowers are also expected in the rest of Sindh.

A high alert has been issued in Badin citing predictions of heavy rains.

The fishermen are advised not to venture in the open sea as the sea will remain extremely rough.

IGP Sindh Kaleem Imam has directed authorities to establish heat stroke units at district level in Sindh.

Imam said heatstroke treatment centres should be established throughout the province, adding that,"These centres must be equipped with necessary equipment.”

The cyclone, meanwhile, veered away from western India.

The severe cyclonic storm, moved north-northwestwards in the night over the Arabian Sea, and was around 110 kilometres from the coast of Gujarat state.
