Justice delayed: Police fail to catch murder accused for three years

‘My daughters’ killers are roaming free with police support’.

MULTAN:

Members of a family protested outside the resident police officer (RPO) office against the police for not arresting a murder accused after three months.

Kot Aasaish resident Maqbool Bibi and her relatives protested outside the RPO’s office for hours on Tuesday. They said that accused Nawazish, Waqas and Nauman had shot her daughter Fauzia after her husband told them not to tease her.

“They were harassing my daughter and my husband approached a guard to make them stop. Later when we crossed the road, they shot her,” Maqbool Bibi said. She told reporters that her other daughter was also severely injured in the encounter. “It has been three years and police have taken no action,” she said.

Ahmed Nagar Chattha police registered a case but the accused were not arrested. Maqbool Bibi and her husband Javed said that they had identified the men but police did not take any action.

“They tell us they are investigating. It has been three years and these men are roaming free. Everyone knows where they are but they know the police are on their side,” Javed said.

The family claim they are receiving threats to reconcile. Maqbool Bibi said her husband was recently beaten and her children were minors. “I have been visiting the police station nearly every week for three years.

Every time I hope something will change but it never does,” she said.
