PESHAWAR:
In a bid to provide a better experience to visitors, a provincial minister on Wednesday directed the Kaghan Development Authority (KDA) to strictly ban all commercial construction activities within its jurisdiction without permission.
This was directed by the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Local Government Minister Shahram Khan Tarakai on Wednesday while presiding over a meeting with the director generals of the KDA and the Galiyat Development Authority (GDA). Institutional structure and facilities are given to tourists, area of jurisdiction, ongoing issues and future planning were discussed in the meeting.
Tarakai further said that cleanliness should be maintained at all tourists attractions throughout the province. Moreover, he said that those involved in wall chalking at tourist places should be dealt with iron hands.
Galiyat Development Authority DG told the meeting that construction and rehabilitation of parks, rest areas, public toilets,
roads and tracks were in progress.
The local government minister said that social media should be used to provide information and guidance to tourists and facilitate them. Moreover, school and college students of the respective areas can be engaged in creating awareness campaigns for tourists.
He further directed that there should be specific spots for dumping waste generated by hotels from where the TMA can collect it and dispose of it safely.
In this regard, Shahram said that the KDA should serve notices to owners of illegal constructions to either regularise these structures with a fine and to strictly ban new constructions.
