Court acquits man in drug possession case
Police makes false recovery of 1.8kg hashish from Najeeb a day after he was arrested
RAWALPINDI:
The Rawalpindi bench of Lahore High Court acquitted a suspect of drug pushing over false testimonies. A two-member bench comprising Justice Mirza Waqas and Justice Shahid Abbasi heard the case.
The suspect’s counsel, Shanzaib Khan Advocate, argued that the city police arrested his client, Najeebullah, from his house and implicated him in drug possession case. Police made a false recovery of 1.8kg hashish from Najeeb a day after he was arrested.
Shanzaib Advocate added that there were no eye witnesses of the incident however a lower court awarded punishment to Najeeb on false testimonies of police. He pleaded the court to anull his client’s sentence of four-year imprisonment along with fine of Rs100,000.
