RAWALPINDI:
A Rawalpindi High Court bench on Monday overturned the life sentence handed to a suspect who was charged with murdering two sisters inside their house.

The suspect’s counsel, Malik Jawwad Khalid, argued that the Talagang police had arrested his client, Zawaar Shah, on the charge of murdering his two sisters Laiba Qadir and Jaweria Qadir, after breaking into their house.

He added that the sessions court had sentenced him to serve a life term. Khalid said his client had been sentenced on the basis of false testimonies which was illegal. He pleaded the court to void the sentence. Based on these arguments, Judge Shahid Abbasi ordered to immediately release of the suspect. All activities at the Rawalpindi district and high courts have resumed after the week-long Eid holidays.

The reopening of the courts and markets in the city brought the hustle and bustle back to the city.
