LAHORE: DIG Operations Ashfaq Ahmed Khan has directed all officers to take strict action against those flying kites, selling kites and manufacturing kites. All divisional SPs have been directed to ensure the ban in their respective areas at all costs.

Lahore police arrested 196 accused in 166 cases during the past month. The DIG stated that they have also extended cooperation to the district administration in order to initiate action against kite making factories without any discrimination.

He stated that so many young men have lost their lives indulging in the dangerous activity. He urged parents to discourage their children from flying kites, adding that parents play a vital role in this regard.

Parents can also be subjected to legal punishment for not stopping their children from flying kites. We cannot allow any citizens to take part in this dangerous activity, he said.
