RMC sets Rs600m development budget

Local and national lawmakers are expected to collectively propose development schemes worth Rs1.3 billion

The Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has decided to include development schemes worth Rs600 million from lawmakers of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) the in upcoming budget for the fiscal year 2019-20.

Local and national lawmakers are expected to collectively propose development schemes worth Rs1.3 billion.


Earlier, the RMC had lent a deaf ear to development schemes proposed by the elected local representatives worth Rs700 million following an embargo placed on all such schemes from the provincial government.

The local bodies were then dissolved by the Punjab government on May 4, 2019, long before their tenures were due to complete in December 2021. Their powers were then transferred to the civic administrators.
