RAWALPINDI: Dozens of vehicles, parked within the premises of Hassanabdal police station in Rawalpindi, were reduced to ashes in a mysterious fire on Sunday.

Officials stationed at the police station cited 'the extreme hot and dry weather' as the reason behind the blaze. They said that bushes near the police station caught fire, which eventually engulfed seven cars and 20 motorcycles parked in the compound.

Last year, dozens of vehicles imported from Dubai were burnt when a fire broke out at a cargo ship at the Karachi Port Trust (KPT).

According to the KPT fire brigade spokesperson, the fire erupted at a cargo ship positioned at Birth No 1 at the KPT, adding that the blaze spread quickly before the arrival of the firefighters.
