LAHORE:

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, the renowned singer, on Wednesday paid a tax of Rs3.5 million on his income, said Member Inland Revenue Services FBR, Khawar Khursheed Butt.

Rahat was one of the 71,000 rich tax dodgers to whom the authorities served notices for filing tax returns. Butt said the singer also filed his income tax return.

“This is healthy sign and other celebrities should also follow his foot steps required to enhance people living standards,” said Butt. Rahat came on the radar screen after he was arrested in India recently for violating Indian currency laws.

Mans | 12 years ago | Reply I hope our national heroes of cricket team are also included in the list of IT dodgers prepared by FBR. Millions of rupees are earned by our heroes through official contracts and advertisements and sponsorships. Effects of Rs 45 lac fine by PCB on Afridi were evident from his body language. He knew how much he can earn by paying only Rs 45 Lac. FBR needs to pay attention towards this side also.
