Victim’s medico-legal report confirms sexual assault, says Badami Bagh SHO
LAHORE:
In another case of sexual violence against children, a minor girl was sexually assaulted by her brother and brother-in-law in Badami Bagh on Saturday.
Reportedly, the perpetrators, identified as Ali Hassan and Pervaiz, gave the victim sleeping pills, causing her to fall unconscious, before sexually assaulting her. The child was alone with the accused while the rest of the family members were visiting relatives.
Badami Bagh SHO Sohail Raza Kazmi said that they had conducted a medico-legal examination of the victim and it confirmed sexual assault. Police officials also collected other evidence from the crime scene. The suspects have been arrested while a case has been registered against them, he added. Police are currently investigating the matter further.
Such cases are commonly reported in newspapers. Just last year, serial killer Imran Ali was apprehended in Kasur. Over the span of two years, he murdered at least 11 minors after sexually assaulting them.
A report by NGO Sahil shows that a total of 3,832 cases of child abuse were reported in country during 2018. This was an 11% increase in the number of cases reported in 2017, which was 3,445. Out of the total number of cases that were reported, 63% were from Punjab, 27% were from Singh, 4% were from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 3% were from Islamabad and 2% were from Balochistan. In addition, 34 cases were reported in AJK and six cases were reported from GB.
