Ilyas let off after warning

Selector was suspended after remarks on TV show.

LAHORE:

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) disciplinary committee has recommended that the suspension on Mohammad Ilyas be lifted while issuing a warning to the selector. Ilyas was suspended after his remarks on a TV show – a response to former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi who criticised the selector – violated the board’s code of conduct.

However, the committee let off Ilyas after he explained the reasons for getting involved in the dispute.

“Ilyas said that he had to defend his honor after being subjected to accusations of a personal nature,” read a PCB release. “The selector had only responded to personal comments.”

Ilyas and Afridi have had a rocky relationship where the former captain has accused him of favouring his son-in-law Imran Farhat. Ilyas has accused Afridi of pushing for the selection of Ahmed Shehzad, Fawad Alam and Shahzaib Hasan.
