HYDERABAD: A woman in Khaipur district was allegedly poisoned to death on Friday after a jirga condemned her to death in yet another incident of honour killing. Khaipur police recorded the statement of the dying woman, Naila Phulpoto, and booked her father, Riaz Phulpoto, uncle, Mushtaq Phulpoto, Aijaz Ali, Amanullah, Zahid Hussain and Ashfaq Hussain in the FIR, registered on the state's complaint.

According to the police, all the accused were involved in convening the jirga and later, forcefully poisoning the woman in the village Gajjo Phulpoto.

Naila was recently divorced by her husband, Attaullah Phulpoto, after which she had returned to her parents' home.

The police informed that some local residents heard Naila's cries and complained to the police. When police reached Riaz's house, they found Naila gasping. She later died while being shifted to the hospital.

According to police, the deceased told the names of the persons who were later nominated in the FIR. The police said that the accused scaled the wall and escaped after they reached Riaz's house. A police source told the local media that three of the accused including Naila's father and uncle have been arrested.
