Bakhtiar signals readiness to resolve net hydel profit issue
Says all issues hampering the payment will be resolved

Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reform Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar has expressed eagerness in resolving the issues about payment of net hydel profit to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa at the earliest.
“All the issues hampering the payment of net hydel profit will be resolved,” said Bakhtiar, who is also the Planning Commission deputy chairman, while addressing the meeting of a committee constituted by the Council of Common Interests (CCI) on Friday.
Adviser to K-P chief minister on energy, secretaries of Power Division, planning, water resources and IPC ministries, member energy and high-ups of concerned ministries were in attendance.
In the meeting, a sub-committee report was discussed. The sub-committee was formed to shed light on the net profit/rate. The report was compiled under the supervision of the Power Division secretary, who is also the chairman of the sub-committee.
The views of all stakeholders, including K-P, Punjab and Wapda were taken under consideration.
The committee agreed that the payment of net hydel profit to provinces was a “constitutional obligation”.
The committee agreed to further deliberate upon the issue of payment of net hydel profit so that a solution could be found and a report could be presented before the upcoming CCI conference.
