Telenor celebrated the joy of sharing and gave a new meaning to posting pictures of meals online

As part of the fever of goodwill that thrives within the country during Ramadan, Telenor yet again managed to look out for the people of the nation, to the best of their ability. This Ramadan, Telenor executed its remarkable CSR campaign #ShareYourMeal. It is quite laudable to see the gains this initiative has been achieving in the past years through the generous contributions made by their followers on social media platforms, such as Facebook & Twitter.

The legacy of #ShareYourMeal

Telenor commenced this campaign in 2015 under the hashtag, #TweetAMeal, by joining hands with the Read Foundation for its donation drive in Dir Kot, Azad Kashmir, and since then the brand has doubled up on its efforts to feed the country by maximising its reach and efficiency. In 2016, it partnered with Pakistan Bait-ul-Maal and took the initiative to Thar, one of the most deprived areas of Pakistan.

In 2017, Telenor wanted to expand its campaign’s outreach by catering to a larger audience on all major platforms in Pakistan; hence, the name was tweaked to #ShareYourMeal. Moreover, it collaborated with the Pakistan Red Crescent Society to disburse food rations to thousands of people in the hunger-stricken city of Bannu along with the underprivileged areas in KLI. Last year, #ShareYourMeal had provided food rations to deserving families in Quetta, Peshawar, Lahore, Islamabad and Karachi.

The difference Telenor is making

This year, Telenor outdid themselves, by curbing hunger and distributing food as much as possible through its donation drives that were being held all over Pakistan. The brand's message, reinforced through its tag line "Ehsaas jagao bhook mitao", helped to bridge the divide between the privileged and those in need.

It aimed to prove that individuals can change the world with the power of ‘data’ because it not only enables them to overcome any obstacle but also assists them in contributing for the betterment of the society. Various social media influencers applauded this praiseworthy gesture and encouraged their audience to share meals in order to support Telenor's outstanding initiative.

Telenor Pakistan’s commitment towards empowering societies and rallying everyone to contribute towards a noble cause was inevitable this year as well through their food donation drive. It is the fifth consecutive year that Telenor Pakistan has successfully run this campaign and contributed towards fighting hunger and poverty in the country.

The proceeds of the 2019 campaign were used to disburse food rations to thousands of people in Islamabad, Quetta, Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar. It was commendable to see how the donation drive was quite a success, and Telenor should be applauded for this noble gesture of theirs.

How people contributed to this noble cause?

All they had to do was share pictures of their Ramadan meals with #ShareYourMeal hashtag on any social media platform and for each post shared, Telenor donated food to the needy on behalf of those who posted. It is quite rare to see an opportunity to do a world of good, from behind the comfort of your screens. Telenor had given people the opportunity to do just that; to come together and contribute to the needy in our nation by making sure that every time they ate, they contributed by sharing a meal.

The fifth year of Telenor’s ration distribution drives were held all over Pakistan to eradicate hunger successfully. Telenor celebrated the joy of sharing and gave a new meaning to posting pictures of meals online. Telenor has been winning our hearts with this brilliant initiative of theirs and we are definitely looking forward to seeing what other remarkable plans they have in store for the future.
